Revival Retreat - Dermalogica Prescriptive Facial Male and Female Review

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

I was off to a wedding recently and unfortunately due to the freezing Glasgow weather at the moment, my skin was looking awful.

Who was to save the day but Revival Retreat Salon on Byres Road in Glasgow's West End. I booked in for a Dermalogica Prescriptive Facial* the day before the wedding (risky I know but normally breakouts happen a day or two after having a facial so I thought it would be ok)

I nipped in to the salon quite early on as I was catching a flight to Bristol later that day. Although fairly small, the salon itself is well presented with the nail bar and foot spa upstairs and treatment rooms beneath.
I was taken through a brief questionnaire about my skin and health before my therapist talked me through the full treatment. The treatment room was lovely and cozy with a fantastic heated bed. (I could have stayed there all day, this was a really big plus for me)

Before the treatment I was placed under the "Skin Scanner" which is a type of UV light which shows up any areas for concern. I found this really interesting as it really showed up all the freckles I have waiting to pop out at the first sign of sunshine. I was pleased to find out that I didn't have any sun damage which is something I try to avoid at all costs and wear a high spf on holiday.

After using the scanner to determine my skin type and any underlying issues, I got tucked myself into the bed while my therapist chose Dermalogica products suitable to my own skin.
I was then cleansed, exfoliated, masked, toned and massaged my way into an hour of sheer bliss. After which my skin looked amazing, I honestly have never seen it look as radiant, especially at this time of year. I was very impressed with the results.
The glass of water and fruit was a lovely touch and gave a much needed boost of energy and hydration afterwards.

My skin has never felt better and I felt that afterwards my makeup applied much easier and looked better in general. I've not had a breakout at all since which is another big plus as I was worried about this. I was also given a little bag of Dermalogica samples to use afterwards.

My friend also went along to Revival Retreat for a Dermalogica Prescriptive Facial. Being male, he had a slightly different, but still great, experience.
Again the Skin Scanner was used to check the condition of his skin and tailored products were selected based on the results. He found the Skin Scanner really interesting, I think all men like a bit of technology.

He was slightly apprehensive before as had never experienced a similar treatment however he let me know afterwards that he felt completely relaxed during and was almost drifting off to sleep at one point! Then felt really refreshed afterwards. His girlfriend commented on how soft his skin both looked and felt - can't ask for much more really.
He also advised me that the facial was much more enjoyable than he ever imagined it could be and would definitely consider one again in the future. A trip to the salon isn't just for women!

So whether you are male or female and feeling like your skin could use a bit of a pick me up, or even just for a good old bit of pampering get yourself down to
Revival Retreat I whole-heartedly recommend it. Dermalogica Prescriptive Facial's start at £35.00 for a 45 minute treatment.
