Ascel Inverse Youth Recall Serum - Review

Monday, April 01, 2013

I'm a massive fan of serums and basically any product that claims to keep me looking youthful for as long as possible.

Recently I've been trying out a new product Ascel Inverse Youth Recall Serum* which is a beauty serum and claims to maintain skin's youthful collagen levels and keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay. The serum includes antioxidants like green tea extract also which can help prevent environmental damage, one of the main causes of aged and damaged skin.
The Inverse Youth Recall Serum contains Jojoba oil to aid hydration and a patented tripeptide/protein combination to promote collagen, natural extracts to tighten and smooth deep wrinkles

Ascel products are created by Malaysian manufacturer Derma Sciences who create plant based beauty and cosmetics products.
The Inverse Youth Recall Serum comes in a very shiny, silver cylindrical bottle with a pump. I'm a fan of the packaging as I am a complete magpie for anything shiny.
To apply the product advises to use 3-4 pumps and warm between the hands before applying to the face, under eye area and neck. This can be used first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Once applied the serum has a light formula and leaves the skin feeling a little tight, however not at all uncomfortable.
It has a strange fruity scent which I can't quite place, slightly citrus but not lemon. I'm not overly keen on the scent to be honest but I do tend to favor unscented products.

My skin is in quite good condition at the moment however can sometimes look a little dull and it need of a radiance boost I found that the serum straight away made my skin look brighter which  which is something that I look for in skincare products so a big plus for me after first use.

Unfortunately after a few days usage I noticed my skin was becoming quite dry and tight so I stopped using the Inverse Youth Recall Serum for a few days and it returned to normal. I tried using the serum again after this just to check on the off chance something else drying my skin out but again after a few uses I felt my skin was becoming dry again so I've had to resign this product to the bottom of my beauty basket I'm afraid.

I was really disappointed as the Inverse Youth Recall Serum seemed to tick every box for me initially but sadly it was not meant to be so I'll be sticking to my Kiehls Midnight Recovery for now.
I can't say this will happen to everyone, as no two skin types are exactly the same so what doesn't work for me might work for you.

Ascel Inverse Youth Serum retails at £26.95 for 50ml from Tanning and Beauty World.
