Life Update

You may have noticed that since the beginning of the year, things have been a little quieter than usual here. I thought I better give a little bit of an explanation to let you know what has been going on as I’ve made quite a few life changes recently.

If you’ve been following my site for a while you’ll remember I posted an explanation and a plea, post almost a year ago. Around that time I had just found out that I had severe CIN3 which had progressed into carcinoma-in-situ (this means it hadn't spread anywhere else and they could remove it all a bit like a dodgy mole). Thankfully this was treatable but was quite scary at the time. I went through 4 different procedures to get rid of it and have recently had the 6 months all clear. Unfortunately during treatment for this I suffered some complications/ I had to have quite a large area of my cervix removed, during what’s known as a cone biopsy, and when it healed it fused together, its not all that common and is known as cervical stenosis.  This meant that the opening had closed over completely so each month my stomach became incredibly swollen which was very painful and uncomfortable as no fluid could get out of my uterus.
In February this year I underwent a hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and dilation to solve this and treat endometriosis. It was very painful and although treated my endo, its something I'll likely always have problems with. I had planned to use my time off work to work on this blog and had lots of exciting content planned but in all honesty, all I felt like doing was lying in bed with hot water bottles watching Netflix – which I did and I’m not sorry in the slightest.  When I was looking for information or help about this I found Jo’s Trust website and forums to be invaluable. If you are going through anything similar I’d highly recommend visiting. (Feel free to ask me anything too, happy to chat about it).

Around the same time, the relationship I had been in for over 6 years ended. Sometimes things simply just aren’t meant to be. Towards the end I ended up seeing my GP and being prescribed medication for anxiety – thankfully I’m off these now.  Being happy is hugely important.  I needed to find myself again and my own happiness and that’s just what I’ve done, I'm a million times happier now. I moved out of the house I bought last year and recently moved into a new place, so look forward to some interior style posts soon too.

What I’ve learned from all this is that sometimes in life, things don’t work out the way we’ve planned. It doesn’t mean that you’ve failed just that your life is now taking a different path. It’s not the end of the world and you just need to keep moving forward. In the words of Elizabeth Taylor, “Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick and pull yourself together” - I’m planning on doing just that.

I’ve planned some changes for the future for this site too and will be sharing all sorts of content – not simply beauty, I’d like to share more of my life itself from days out to just some general chat. Will I change the blog name? Who knows? In all honesty I haven’t decided yet but it’s possible. If there is anything you’d like to see or for me to share please do get in touch.
Thanks for reading!!
