Glastonbury Festival Beauty Essentials

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

Festival season is almost upon us which makes me so happy. I'm a massive fan of music festivals and camping in general, I try to go at least a few times every summer.
This year I've got a few camping trips planned and also will be heading to Glastonbury again in June, headlining this year will be Adele, Coldplay and Muse.

I've been to Glastonbury many times over the years so I've got festival packing pretty much down to an art. For me the general camping essentials include my tent (take the biggest one you can carry) an inflatable bed and pump, sleeping bag, blanket and pillow. I also take a small camping stove and kettle so I can make tea and hot water bottles.

Unfortunately. I do find it very difficult to decide which beauty products to bring with me to festivals and tend to bring too much. As well as my beloved Bobbi Brown customizable palette, which contains four eyeshadows, contour shade and a blusher as well as a really handy mirror, I'll likely be bringing these products;

Face: MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Foundation,  Makeup Forever HD Primer, Clinique stay matte blotting powderYSL Touche Eclat, Collection Lasting perfection concealer, Urban Decay Beached Bronzer,  Afterglow 8-hour Highlighter in Firebird and All Nighter Setting spray,

Eyes: Illamasqua Glimpse brow gel (brows), Urban Decay Primer PotionBobbi Brown longwear cream shadow stick, Illamasqua Precision Ink liner, Kiko black kohl liner, Smashbox Indecent Exposure mascara, MAC custom quad with some bright shades.

Lips: Lime Crime Serpentina, Illamasqua Posture and Shoot lipgloss, MAC Whirl. Clinique Sweet Pot lip balm/scrub and Michael Kors After Sun lip care.

For skincare I stick to the absolute basics. I use baby wipes to remove my makeup and cleanse my face while I'm there as there is no point lugging around extra cleansers I won't use. I also take an SPF50 and total sunblock as I burn very easily.

La Roche Posey Toleriane Ultra - This intense soothing moisturiser is perfect as its light and doesn't irritate my skin but still gives me a lot of much needed hydration.
Aveda Daily Light Guard - This is probably one of my standout products from Aveda this year. I love that this gives me SPF 30 protection without being greasy or causing problems when applying my makeup. Some facial SPF's make me break out but this is perfect.
Aesop Immediate Moisture spray - I love facial spritz products. Glastonbury is usually very warm so a cooling spritz is much needed. This also contains Citronella which helps keep bugs away.
Lancome Energie de Vie Nuit & Liquid Moisturiser - I haven't actually used these yet but the sample sizes are great for travelling. I've heard great things about the night mask so really looking forward to trying this out.

This might seem like a lot of products but it all fits neatly into this little zip up makeup bag I got as a gift with purchase from Boots No.7 years ago. I like it as it is compact but holds a lot and also has room to hold brushes.

My favorite year at Glastonbury was 2009 as Bruce Springseen and Neil Young headlined the Pyramid Stage. The weather was also amazing!.
Some interesting facts about Glastonbury are;
  • Glastonbury Festival has been running for 45 years, it started on September 19th, 1970 and was called the Pilton Pop, Blues and Folk festival. Tickets were £1.
  • In 2002 the welfare tent handed out over 4000 tubes of sunblock
  • Over 400,000 pints of beer and cider were consumed at the festival's official bars.
  • Paul McCartney was fined £1000 by the local council in 2004 for playing longer than the curfew.
  • Over 2400 miles of loo roll were brought in for the start of Glastonbury in 2007.
  • In 2009, over 200 diesel generators helped power the festival.
  • Last year, 2015, the festival donated hundreds of discarded Wellington boots to migrant camps in Calais.
