Pixie Hair & Beauty Glasgow

For some strange and unknown reason, I have a strange aversion to booking hairdresser appointments. I have no issues with actually going to the hairdressers but I always seem to forget to book in for a haircut and can go for months without even so much as a trim. Although I'm lucky that I have very thick, naturally straight hair which requires little to no attention,  I often end up with a really grown out version of my last haircut which almost always looks plain and boring.
A few weeks ago I was invited along to Pixie Hair and Beauty in Glasgow's West End to visit the salon. It suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't actually had a haircut since about November so probably should remedy that. The salon itself is light, bright and full of fun decor including a very cool hairdryer light fitting.

When I went in my hair was almost waist length and hanging a bit limp. A few days prior to visiting Pixie I had topped-up my Lush Caca Rouge Henna and also given myself some chunky highlights as I was clearly feeling nostalgic towards the 90's so I was already quite happy with my colour but fancied something different in terms of style.
I'm one of these awkward clients that tells hairdressers to do whatever they like without any real guidance other than I need it to be quick an easy to style. My stylist Emma was fantastic and after a consultation recommended that I go for something a bit shorter with some layers and a big, bouncy, blow dry.
I'm so pleased with the new style, I had something similar in my teens akin to a "Rachel from Friends"which I loved. My hair felt so healthy and light (which isn't surprising considering the amount cut off was enough to make a small wig)

After my hair make-over it was time for makeup. I'm a trained Makeup Artist myself so I'm always a bit wary about other people doing mine. Luckily Pixie's in-house-artist Dale Plews had a face beat to perfection so I know I'd be in good hands. Dale used a mixture of high end and high street products to create a glam evening look (everyday look for me). I'm not normally a fan of a matte lip but I adored this.

I was so pleased with my finished look which I proudly showed off visiting House of Frasers Beauty Confidential Event later that evening. I've had so many compliments on both my hair and makeup since visiting the Salon and I'll definitely not leave my next hairdresser visit as long. I can't wait to go back!
