Lush Turns 20: The Experimenter Bath Ballistic

Friday, July 31, 2015

Did you know that Lush is 20 years old? The first Lush store opened in Poole in 1995 and the products are still all made in the Lush Kitchen there today.
There are countless Lush stores all over the world now and they have just opened up their biggest ever store in London's Oxford Street.

To celebrate the event I went to a little birthday party in Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street store. Along with a few other Glasgow Bloggers we learned about Lush's history and a load of exciting facts, checked out their bestselling products and even made our own Big Blue Bath Ballistics. Lush first coined the term "bath bomb" but didn't patent it so now use the term ballistic, which I think sounds all the more exciting and explosive.
The London Oxford Street store is jam packed with products, many of which are exclusive however we learned that a few of these products will be rolling out across other Lush stores from August 7th.

What's a party without games? Lush has its own original form of gift wrapping which are actually beautiful knot wrap scarves. We played a game of "who styled it best" and I won an Oxford Street Exclusive "The Experimenter" Bath Ballistic.(Technically I did a magic trick with the scarf rather than styling it)  This is possibly one of the best Lush ballistics I've used and I can't wait to get my hands on more.
The Experimenter reminds me of an everlasting gobstopper from Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Its bold and bright and looks beautiful when dropped into the water. The colours instantly all shoot out in different directions. The ingredients include Fair Trade Vanilla, Tonka Bean and Vetivert Oil which make it smell sweet and delicious. The centre has lots of popping candy which makes the bath sound all crackly. Once the colours have fizzed away the bathwater is a lovely glittery shade of green.

Some therapists from Edinburgh's Lush Spa also came along to talk through the Spa treatments and give us a little tester of The Comforter treatment which involved a chocolatey arm massage. It was bliss and I need to get myself in for a full treatment asap.  There are nine Lush Spas in the UK

You can buy Lush products instore or online and find out more about the Spa via the Lush website.
