My Top Five Mascaras

Monday, May 18, 2015

I tend to stick to the same tried and tested products for foundation, eyeliner and brow products however one product I like to change often is mascara.
I'm yet to find the "perfect" mascara but over the years I've found several which are fairly close. These are all towards the higher end of the cosmetics scale but if I'm honest I haven't found a cheaper brand mascara that has worked the way I want it to.
My top five mascaras are;

Urban Decay Perversion (£17.50) - Perversion is my go-to mascara for dramatic eyes. The chunky brush gives amazing volume. UD also have a white, fibre type mascara, Subversion, which can be applied under it for super long lashes. Ain't nobody got time for that though for everyday wear but its good for a night out.

MAC Zoomlash (£14.50) - I've been using this for years and I always seem to go back to it. I feel people tend to overlook this in favor of the Zoomfast Black Lash  as its not as dramatic. This gives glossy lashes which aren't too long or too thick. The brush is fairly slim, I like to bend it a little too give extra lift. If you are looking for slightly more of a natural black mascara, give this a go. This also comes in a sized to go tube (£10.00)

Benefit They're Real (£19.50) - This is the UK's No.1 Bestselling Mascara and I can definitely see why. This makes lashes appear to go on forever. It lengthens, separates and defines in one easy swoop. The spiky brush means you can get every single lash. My only complaint is that this is pretty difficult to remove. Its not waterproof but it doesn't budge. Your best bet is to use They're Real remover or an oil based eye makeup remover to get this off. I wasn't totally sold on this at first but stick with it, it gets better.

Lancome Hypnose Star (£22.50) - I use this mascara for everyday wear, its not my favorite of the five by a long shot but I do enjoy wearing it. I keep this in my handbag for work and use it most days. There's nothing worse than having to scrub to get your makeup off at night but Hypnose Star removes really easily and doesn't leave you with panda eyes the next day. The tapered brush lifts the outer lashes and gets right into the inner corners too.

Benefit Roller Lash (£19.50) - Benefit's newest mascara offering is quickly becoming my favourite. The curved shape of the brush has been specially designed to hook and lift the lashes to curl without the need to use eyelash curlers. It really does work well, I'm very impressed so far.

Brushes L-R - Perversion, Zoomfast Black Lash, They're Real, Hypnose Star, Rollerlash
