Urban Decay: Battle of the Liners

Thursday, June 12, 2014

I'm a massive fan of the original Glide-On Eye Pencils from UD as they last forever, they have now created four new black liners, a velvety pencil, a felt tip pen, twist up pencil and a poured cream liner. The liners are all sold separately rather than as a collection.

First up is the aforementioned Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet (£15.00). This is a more of a relaunch and revamp of the Perversion Glide-One Eye Pencil or Perversion V.2.0, as I like to call it, is darker, smoother and really does glide on the skin without any sign of pulling or tugging. Perversion had a tendency to be a little more slick and transfer to the lid if worn along the lashline but the new formulation of Black Velvet is less oily in texture. Black Velvet is fantastic for the waterline and also for creating a really smudgy, smoky eye.

Urban Decay have an amazing All Nighter range of products which are designed to last as the name suggests. The All Night Eyeliner in Perversion (£15.00) is a mechanical pencil type product which means no sharpener required, Hooray! This is perfect for popping in your handbag for a night out, Its a lot waxier than the normal pencil but glides on equally as well. This lasts on my waterline all day perfectly, I've even accidentally slept in this (bad beauty blogger!) and it still looked the same the next morning.

I love any liner that makes it easier to do a good old cat eye effect. Urban Decay's Ink For Eyes in Perversion (£15.00) is a waterproof precision pen which is basically means it is a liquid liner in the form of a felt tip. The tip is very fine but also stiff and can turn 360 degrees which makes it easy to draw all sorts of intricate patterns if the notion takes you (think 90's style spirals at the corners of your eyes) The liner itself lasts for 100 years (well not quite but it stays put through a shower) you'll need a good eye makeup remover to get it off. It is also a great compact size, gives a really sharp line and dries almost instantly.

Finally the surprise of the bunch, I normally prefer a liquid liner for my lids and for creating a flick but I've been completely won over by the Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner in Perversion(£16.00) (thats a mouthful). Like most cream/gel type liners this comes in a little glass pot and is applied using an angled brush. Urban Decay have launched the Perversion Angled Brush (£12.00) to accompany this. The liner itself is mega black, applies like a dream and lasts forever, What more could you want?  It is also very versitile and can be used to line the lids, waterline, smudge over the eye or even as a lipstick if you are feeling a bit Goth. I especially like to use it as a base for eyeshadows or as an adhesive for the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitters (£10.00 - Pyrotechnics is my fav).
