I was recently invited along to visit the Glasgow Hilton's new tea lounge "Ti"which opened in October 2012.
Ti come from the Gaelic word for Tea which keeps in fitting with the Glasgow Hilton's Connich bar (adapted from the Gaelic word encounter)  and Morblas seafood and grill (from the words great and taste)


The Ti Lounge is situated at the back of the Hilton's large reception area and offers traditional and afternoon tea with a twist.

Upon arrival I was greeted with a lovely glass of Prosecco and sat amongst some other lovely Scottish Bloggers.

Pretty tiered trays of cakes and sandwiches were arranged around all of the tables and instantly my mouth began to water. I loved the smoked salmon sandwiches and the lemon cream cakes, I could have eaten them all day.

Ti offers several different types of afternoon tea which range from £14-£17 per person, including;


The Classic Afternoon Tea (£14 pp) - freshly cut finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, selection of artisan cakes and lemon pancakes.



The Confessions of a Chocoholic (£15 pp) - Chocolate fondue, seasonal fruits, marshmallows, rolled gaufrette biscuits, a selection of bite sized cakes.



The Mad Hatters Tea Party (£17 pp) - Party Finger Sandwiches, Queen of Hearts strawberries, a selection of cupcakes, themed cakes, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and a blue, lemonade "drink me" potion.

The afternoon teas are all served with your choice of tea from a selection of Twinnings loose-leaf. The staff are very knowledgeable about the different varieties, I'm a fan of Assam tea so I went for that but the Camomile also had an amazing scent.


The tea comes served in an infuser pot and there are little hourglass timers on the table filled with either, green, white or black sand. The brew time for your own cuppa depends on the type of tea, if you had Assam like my own you would turn the timer and wait until the black sand runs out.


If you prefer something a little stronger with your afternoon tea you can also order either a glass of bubbly or Ti's signature cocktail of gin and blackcurrant and lavender tea... mmm.
