Girlie Sleepover at The Bonham Hotel Edinburgh

Monday, July 17, 2017

A few weeks ago I packed myself a bag and hopped on a train to Edinburgh to spend a lovely night with the girls at The Bonham hotel.
I rarely go through to Edinburgh so its a lovely treat these days, especially to stay over somewhere so nice.

When I arrived, after work, Laura (A Life with Frills), Lynsey (Lynseyloves) and Lisa (Definitely Lovely) were already there waiting. Lynsey and I shared a twin room to sleep in but most of the evening was spent in a large double suite with a lounge area, perfect for chilling out in. The girls had got to work before I arrived and decorated the room in a fun, summer theme complete with hanging pineapples - it's not a sleepover without a hanging pineapple.

We had each brought some cakes and goodies (Laura baked a fantastic, raspberry buttercream cake - I brought an M&S sponge as my baking skills are lacking)

We needn't have bothered bringing snacks as The Bonham kept us well fed, I felt like we were eating for hours. My favorite was a delicious red pepper soup and an asparagus and amazing chocolate mousse. I'm not really a fan of chocolate but I could have eaten another. It was rounded off with a lovely chocolate fondue with fruit.

In between courses we got crafty with some jewelry sets from Hobbycraft and Benefit Cosmetics were on hand to give us some Benebrows, mine were desperately needing some TLC and looked amazing afterwards. Benefit always do a fantastic job of waxing and tinting, my arches have never looked back.

Our room was really comfortable and I slept well, It would have been nice if there was air conditioning in the room but the hotel do provide fans if required. I was really pleased they were able to accommodate my needs and bring up synthetic bedding too as I have asthma and the feathers can trigger it quite badly.

We all met up for breakfast in the hotel's dining room, a continental breakfast was served "buffet-style" and a waitress took our order for coffee and hot food. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast which included potato scone and haggis and had some yoghurt and fruit.

The Bonham is located about a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh's Haymarket train station, with plenty of buses and trams nearby too. It's nice to stay slightly outside of the city centre sometimes as the area around the hotel is lovely.

Thanks again to Laura for arranging another lovely evening.
