Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette

When I first saw the press release for the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette I was super excited.
I'm a massive fan of Gwen and No Doubt so this seemed like the collaboration of dreams for me.
I then saw a photograph of the palette itself and while the packaging looked gorgeous, at first I thought it looked like just another Naked Palette with a few random colours thrown in for good measure.

This all changed when I had the palette in my hands and seen it in person. I absolutely adore it. It is definitely not just another neutral palette and I'd even go as far to say that I think its the best palette Urban Decay have ever released (and that's saying something as the now sadly discontinued Smoked Palette was something special). I've been using this palette everyday for the past few weeks and it's beautiful and so versatile.

The palette is housed in a pretty gold and white polka dot case. Its mostly plastic but has a metal plaque on the front. It's very sturdy and if, like me, you like carrying your entire makeup collection around in your handbag it's unlikely to get damaged. The mirror is a great size and has cute, gold, lettering "The Magic's in the Makeup" which is a classic No Doubt song.

This is Urban Decay's first collaboration with a celebrity and I think Gwen Stefani was the perfect choice. Gwen was involved 100% with the creation of this palette and wanted to make sure everything was perfect before it was released. Twelve of the eyeshadows were created especially for this palette (and are named after things special to Gwen) and the other three are some of Gwen's favorites from the brand.

The shades are;
Blonde (pale beige with pink iridescent shift) - Gwen's blonde hair
Bathwater (pale beige with gold pearl) - No Doubt song
Skimp (pale nude satin) - one of Gwen's favs from the main UD line
Steady (medium rose with metallic gold shift) - named after No Doubt's Rock Steady album
Punk (reddish brown matte) - Gwen's first music genre and my fav shade in the palette
Baby (cool metallic rose) - From L.A.M.B her fashion line
Anaheim (light taupe-brown matte) - Where Gwen grew up
Stark (nude-pink matte) - one of Gwen's favs from the main UD line
Zone (medium brown matte) - from the song Danger Zone
Serious (smoky grey with iridescent floating pearl) - one of Gwen's solo song titles
Pop (pale coral with iridescent sparkle) - Gwen is the ultimate Pop-Punk Princess
Harajuku (metallic blue-pink with iridescent micro-shimmer) - a major style influence
Danger (deep metallic royal blue with blue micro-sparkle) - Because we all like a little Danger
1987 (bright metallic yellow-gold) - The year No Doubt first launched
Blackout (blackest black matte) - one of Gwen's favs from the main UD line and one of the best, matte black shadows ever!

Gwen Stefani has her own cool style which is a mix of neutral eyes, sometimes with a pop of colour or smoke, bold red lips and a slick of black eyeliner. The palette allows you to easily recreate this classic look as well as some darker, rockier styles. Gwen's collection also includes eight lipsticks, which will be out in Spring 2016, in shades Rock Steady,714, Ex-Girlfriend, Firebird, Wonderland Spiderweb, Phonecall and Plaid.

The Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette costs £40 which I think is a great price compared to 15 palettes from other brands.
