Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick

Did you know that when Urban Decay was first launched in 1996 they full line consisted of just ten lipsticks and twelve nail polishes? The brand has come a long way since then and now offers a wide range of cosmetics products but for me, the lipsticks have a special place in my heart.

Currently Urban Decay have three lipstick formulas; Revolution Lipstick, Sheer Revolution and new Matte Revolution. I have a few from each range but I've been wearing the new matte shades in After Dark and Tilt a lot recently.
The Matte Revolution lipsticks are creamy, velvety smooth to apply and, unlike most matte lipsticks, don't drag on the lips. They aren't especially hydrating but they also aren't at all drying. The shades are incredibly pigmented and only one quick swipe is needed for full opacity.

After Dark is described as a matte, medium-dark berry pink. It has cool undertones and an ever so slight violet iridescence. Tilt is described as a matte, bright orange but I think it definitely leans towards the coral. I've tested both out several times and they have lasted 8+ hours (I removed them after this) The matte formulas do leave behind a slight stain when removed so best to use an oil based cleanser.

I've swatched the Matte Revolution Lipsticks next to the other formulas to give you an idea of the difference between them. L-R above is Matte Revolution After Dark and Tilt, Revolution Lipstick in Jilted, Sheer Revolution in Streak and Liar.

Check out this little blast from the past, this is Urban Decay lipstick in Buzzkill, I've had this for longer than I should but the packaging is just too pretty to get rid of. The lipstick also had a strange liquorice taste to it, weird. Thankfully the new incarnations of lipsticks aren't flavoured.

You can buy Matte Revolution lipsticks (£15.50) via the Urban Decay Website.
