My Top 4 Foundations for Pale Skin

Monday, February 16, 2015

I wear foundation pretty much everyday. I wouldn't dream of going out to an event or night out without wearing any. My skin isn't too bad tone-wise but I do like to even it out a bit and make it look flawless. I also have quite pale skin (about Mac NW15 for reference with pink undertones) so its often difficult finding the perfect match.

When it comes to finish I prefer something quite matte but not too much so that my skin looks dry.
I've tried loads of different foundations over the years all in very different price ranges. I've found that for me I prefer to spend a little bit more on base products and my favorites fall in the "high-end" makeup spectrum. This doesn't mean that high street foundations aren't as good, its just a personal preference.

I've narrowed it down to four of my favourites, I like to rotate each of these depending on the situation and also how my skin is feeling that day. They are all almost identical in terms of shades but have ever so slightly different finishes.

L-R - Chanel, Diorskin Nude, Diorskin Star, MUFE HD

Chanel Perfection Lumiere (Shade Beige 10 ) - This is the most matte foundation I own. It has fantastic coverage while still being light on the skin. It has a beautiful, velvety soft feel once dried and gives a very buffed and polished look. Although a soft matte finish, it also gives a lovely radiance to the skin. You don't really need an additional powder with this.If you haven't used Chanel foundations before its worth noting that these are scented (Chanel No.5 I believe) Its fairly light but if you have sensitive skin its best to try a sample first - £36.00 via Debenhams

Diorskin Nude (Shade 010) - My skin but better, if I need a pick-me-up or just want my skin to have a pretty glow I reach for this. It is a fairly thick foundation but blends seamlessly into the skin. You only need a tiny amount for your entire face so this lasts for ages. - £32.00 via Debenhams

Diorskin Star (Shade 010) - Similar to Nude but has a slightly different, more gel like texture. Its almost like a really good coverage BB cream. Not as build-able as Nude either and although still medium-high coverage it does let through freckles etc. I like to wear this if my skin is looking particularly good that day or if I'm going for a more natural look. The finish is a little tacky so best to use a translucent powder. -£32.00 via Debenhams

Makeup Forever HD Foundation (Shade 115 Ivory) - This is probably my favorite out of the four. I love the finish to this, its a semi-matte but still gives a lovely dewy look to the skin. I always stock up if I'm in Sephora but thankfully Debenhams will be stocking MUFE come March 2015. - £30.50 via GuruMakeupEmporium
