George at Asda Summer Fashion Challenge

Friday, May 30, 2014

I love a Summery Style Challenge, this week I was asked to choose some pieces from George at Asda's new summer collection to style and create a makeup look for.

Nothing says summer outerwear to me than a denim jacket, they are classic wardrobe staples and perfect to wear over light dresses. The Mid Wash Cropped Denim Jacket comes in at at only £18.00. It is lightweight and made of a super soft, stretch denim. It does come up quite small though so I'd recommend sizing up. I like to wear mine open with the sleeves rolled up a bit for a fun, casual look.

I love some of the gorgeous midi/maxi dresses out at the moment but being 5"2 I often find they drown me. As soon as I saw this Printed Maxi Skirt, which is a bargain at £10.00, I thought it would look great hitched up and worn as a dress. I love the fun, colourful, tribal pattern. The skirt is very comfortable worn like this as it has an elasticated band at the top which fits nicely around the chest.
I added some vintage green beads and some brown, flip flop sandles to complete the look.

As the outfit itself is fairly colourful I wanted to keep my makeup looking fresh and neutral.
For a base I used Benefit Hello Flawless (£26.50) mixed with Lush Feeling Younger Skin Tint (£12.00) to give a lovely glowing look.
I love to break out the peach/orange shades for lips and cheeks when the warmer (not raining) weather comes. I used Sleek's Pan Tao Blush (was limited edition but the orange shade from Pumpkin Blush by 3 is similar) and for lips I added a tiny bit of Scandalous Vice (£1.00) from Makeup Revolution and a little bit of clear gloss on top for a sheer finish.
I kept my eyes simple using a few of the bronze/gold shades from Makeup Revolution's Day to Night Palette (£4.00), a lot of Urban Decay Super-Saturated Black Cream Eyeliner (£16.00 via Debenhams)
I finished off with Michael Kors Nail Laquer in Hint (£15.00 via House of Fraser) and my favourite daytime summer perfume, DKNY Summer for Woman (£20.00 via Superdrug, Limited Edition for 2014) which has notes of grapefruit, sweet orange and patchouli, yum!
