The Retreat Salon West Calder

Friday, January 17, 2014

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a gorgeous little spa just outside of the city.
The Retreat in West Calder is situated around 15min from Glasgow which is great for those who like to get away from busy city life to unwind for a while.
The cold, wintery weather really plays havoc with my skin and makes it feel very dry and tight around my nose and forehead so I booked in for an ESPA Skin Re-Hydrator facial to try and combat this.

The Skin Re-Hydrator facial is an intensive and regenerating facial for dehydrated skin leaving it supple and nourished.
My therapist was wonderful, before the treatment I completed a quick questionnaire detailing my skin concerns and discussed the outcome I was looking for from the facial. ESPA facials are very tailored to the individual and during the facial my therapist allowed me to smell and feel a variety of pro ducts before they were applied so I could chose what I prefered. For me, enjoying the scent of products really makes a treatment more relaxing so I thought this was great.

The Re-Hydrator facial involves several steps, gentle cleansing and exfoliation to help the skin absorb replenishing oils and masks to moisturise and soothe the complexion.
The treatment lasted around an hour and I was also given the choice of a hand and arm massage or a head massage and hair treatment while the mask was working its magic. I chose the latter which was incredibly relaxing, I could easilly have fallen asleep. I kept the treatment on overnight and my hair was super soft the next day. My skin also looked much more radient and hydrated.

Overall it was a fantastic visit and I can't wait to return. I really enjoyed the ESPA products as their scents were very light and glided on my skin nicely.
The salon itself is gorgeous the decor is very relaxing and the treatment beds are among the comfiest I've ever lay on.

The Retreat  is located  in Union Square West Calder, to make a booking contact 01506 872300 or visit their website and Facebook page.
