Illamasqua Christmas Nail Duo Throb and Spartan

Friday, November 09, 2012

I love Illamasqua Christmas sets as they are always beautiful and this years nail duos are no exception.

There are two nail duos in this years Christmas sets, Throb and Spartan (red and gold glitter) and Viridian and Gliteratti (raspberry glitter and peacock green)

I have Throb and Spartan as for me, these colours really are about as Christmasy as nail polishes come.

Throb is Illamasqua's bestselling red nail polish, its a true, blood red colour and is completely glossy and opaque after only one coat.
I would advise using a base coat with this nail polish though as with most reds it can stain bare nails slightly.

I'm always a little sceptical about glitter nail polishes as I've tried so many which have looked great in the bottle but don't transfer to nails well at all.
I can happilly say though that Spartan is nothing like this, I was blown away at the quality of this polish, two coats is all you need for completely sparkly nails.
Make sure you give the bottle a really good shake before using though as the two shades of glitter tend to separate a little.

I like to wear Spartan layered over Throb for a lovely Christmas look or you can wear each on their own.
For a less sparkly look I like to wear Throb on all my nails and then Spartan over my ring fingernail for a statement nail.

Illamasqua Chrismas nail sets retail at £24.00 which may seem a little pricey at first however if you have ever used an Illamasqua polish you will know they are excellent quality.

You can buy these from the website or at Illamasqua counters, you can see the rest of the Illamasqua Chrismas sets on the website.

If you are Glasgow based the Illamasqua counter is situated in Debenhams on Argyle Street and the staff are all very friendly so I’d really advise popping in to find the best shade for you.
