My Go-To Winter Party Style

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

The Autumn/Winter season is definitely my favorite time of the year. Although Summer isn't too bad the dark, moody shades of Winter are much more my jam!
I tend to be quite laid back with my fashion sense, I like to rock a really well fitted pair of jeans (like my favourite black Nine by Savannah Millar pair which go with absolutely everything and are unnaturally comfortable)  and a glam top for everyday events. I like to take pieces like this gorgeous black/blue sequin shell top from Simply Be, and throw a leather jacket over the top of it for a real rock-chick look. This is actually one of my favorite going out tops at the moment and I've been wearing it quite often.

Navy and blue tones are really in this season, especially for makeup. I created a really easy, navy smoky eye (with added glitter, of course) to compliment my outfit.
I'm all for going wild and doing whatever you fancy with makeup but I think its best to keep the eyes as the focus for this look, especially when there is a lot going on with my top already.
I kept my base quite matte using L'Oreal True Match Foundation in C1 Rose Ivory and L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder in Light. I have a million eyebags at the moment and Urban Decay Naked Skin Colour Correcting Fluid in Pink is my absolute savior at the moment.
I love a weird coloured blusher and MAC Harmony Powder Blush is my absolute favorite at the moment. It is a sort of dull, nude colour and looks great on pale complexions like mine. I like to sweep this upwards from my cheekbones to add a bit of colour and contour.

Benefit Ka-Brow is my most used brow product at the moment, its a great colour for me and so easy to use.
I used Illamasqua Eyeshadow in Cascade all over my lids and right up to my browbone to highlight, its a lovely white shade with irridecent blue shift (I actually put some on my cheekbones/entire face to highlight afterwards). I used Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Midnight to create a sort of blown out, cut crease as well as to buff under my lower lashes.
Soap and Glory have a gorgeous Navy pencil liner in the shade What A Night (from the Kohl-Eyed gift set) which is so creamy and longlasting. I applied this on my waterline in the morning and it lasted all day. I usually wear black liquid liner but Urban Decay's Razor Sharp liner in Push is a lovely metallic, navy and stays looking sharp for a long time. My favorite mascara at the moment is the Guerlain Maxi Lash So Volume, its very black and makes my lashes really thick and long. A quick dab of Urban Decay Heavy Metal Liner in Distortions in the inner corners and a sweep of MAC Lipfinity Lipstick in Smoked Almond and I'm good to go!

If I'm honest though, I'm not much of a partier these days. I'd much rather be snuggled up in my cosy pajamas with a good book and cup of tea than spending a night out on the town.
