Jo Malone Herb Garden and Roundhouse

Monday, July 28, 2014

A few weeks ago I attended the opening of the Jo Malone Herb Garden and Roundhouse in Edinburgh.
The Jo Malone garden is situated within Redhall Walled Garden and has been created in association with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health). The brand has funded both the creation of a herb garden and the restoration of the roundhouse within Redhall.

Redhall itself is maintained by trainee gardener's who attend to help better their mental health. SAMH provides full horticultural training to help rebuild lives of those affected.

Jo Malone London general manager Rachel Baker says “Not only are gardens a constant source of inspiration for fragrances, they are also proven to be good for the soul. We are proud to support charities with the creation of beautiful, scented gardens. Our gardens are life changing to those involved and scented havens open to everyone.”

The Herb Garden itself was a place of sheer beauty, I don't have a garden myself at home so its always lovely to find somewhere so peaceful, especially within the capital. I'll let the photographs do the talking as words can't describe how lovely and tranquil the gardens are.

The Redhall Herb Garden and Roundhouse is supported through the sale of Jo Malone London Limited Edition Rose and Rosemary Charity Candle and is located on Edinburghs Lanark Road. If you are in the area you simply must visit. To find out more visit the Redhall website.

Personally I know how working outdoors can be great for your health, and your overall well being. I love to sketch in the great outdoors, to break free from the computer screen and breathe in fresh air and fresh perspective. So it makes sense to me that gardening can be good for the soul too.

That’s the theory behind Redhall Walled Garden in Edinburgh’s Slateford area. A beautiful 18th Century Walled Garden within a 6 acre estate where the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) offers training in horticulture, conservation, maintenance skills, ITC/admin and life skills for people with mental health problems.

I was there for the opening yesterday and was blown away by the good work which goes on within the garden and the beauty of a place I have not been before. I love that Edinburgh and the people of Edinburgh continue to surprise in this way. It is wonderful that Jo Malone have chosen to invest and work with SAMH to help create a wonderfully peaceful place in the city.
