Chiquitos Glasgow Fort
Saturday, November 30, 2013I'm a huge fan of Mexican food and when Chiquito opened a new restaurant at Glasgow Fort I couldn't wait to pop along and try some of their menu.
Chiquito is a chain of restaurant bar and mexican grills which serve up some tasty tex-mex food and cocktails.
While browsing the menus, we were served a complimentary
bowl of spiced popcorn. I’m not normally a fan of popcorn (too squeaky) but
this was very moreish and a nice touch.
We ordered a starter to share of Fully Loaded Nachos with
chorizo and cranberry topping. These were huge and loaded with sour cream,
guacamole, jalapenos and cheese. The cranberry didn’t really come across though
but they were still very nice, I didn’t want to share them with Mr.
Normally at Mexican restaurants I go for the fajitas but the
Chicken and Chorizo skewers from the sizzling specials caught my eye. These come as two skewers of chicken breast with
chorizo and mixed peppers and served with lime & tequila sauce. This was
served with fajita vegetables, corn on the cob and Mexican spiced rice. I’d definitely
order it again it was very tasty and the chorizo was lovely and smoky.
Mr opted for the Southern Fried Chicken & BBQ Pulled
Pork. Which was a southern fried chicken breast topped with BBQ pulled pork and
melted cheese. This came with skin-on-fries, corn on the cob, onion rings, coleslaw
and BBQ sauce. He enjoyed it but he mentioned it could have done with a bit
more pulled pork as it wasn’t quite what he expected.
Sadly we were too full for desert but I’ve heard the churros
are delicious; I’ll definitely need to try them out next time. The cocktails at Chiquito are pretty tasty
too and they have quite an extensive menu. I went for a Key West Cooler and a
Margarita. They also do a great tequila sampling board of 4 different tequila
shots. If we weren’t off to the pictures afterwards I would have definitely sampled
these.
There is always next time.
There is always next time.
