La Tasca Glasgow

A Beauty Blogger has to eat and one of my favourite types of food would be tapas. I recently went along to La Tasca in Glasgow's city centre to try out some of the new Chef's Specials.

I love having little bits of everything so La Tasca is the perfect type of restaurant for me. I hadn't been for a while so was really looking forward to trying out some of the new dishes. (I brought along the Mr too as he equally enjoys tapas, or any food for that matter)

La Tasca are a chain of authentic Spanish restaurants. The Glasgow restaurant is situated on Renfield street in the heart of the city centre. It is a great location especially if you are looking to have a nice meal before a night on the town. The decor is warm and relaxing and has many an authentic Spanish nick-nack adorning the walls.

The food is what we really want to talk about though, Tapas are small appetizer style dishes and the serving of tapas was designed to encourage conversation so that people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them.
La Tasca has a huge variety of tapas dishes to choose from, it is recommended that for two people around six dishes would be plenty.

I am a massive olive fan so I had to get some of those, our server reccomended the Tabla Espanola which was a selection of Spanish cured meats with mixed olives, Manchego cheese, Spanish ciabatta and an extra virgin oil and sherry vinegar dip. Very tasty.

After mulling over the menu we chose six dishes, normally we would go for a paella dish and patatas bravas but we decided to be a little adventurous and try some things we usually wouldn't go for.
Firstly we tried the Slow Cooked Pan Fried Duck wings from the Chef's Specials. This was served with a lentil and serrano ham stew. I thought this wouldn't be to my taste but I could have ate the stew forever, it was my favourite dish, the duck was cooked perfectly and fell off the bone.

Also from the Chef's Special's we tried the Pimentos de Padron which are roasted green peppers, although they were nice I was a little disappointed as they were not hot or spicy at all. I'm a total spice fiend but they made a decent accompaniment to the rest of the dishes.

I love prawns so I couldn't leave without ordering the Gambas Al Ajillo, which are butterfly king prawns sauteed in a chilli and garlic infused oil, I thoroughly enjoyed these. The fresh chilli's gave the dish a really great kick.

The Mr fancied a chicken dish so we went for the Spanish Style Lemon Chicken and Vegetables, which is chicken breast pan fried with lemons and Mediterranean vegetables finished with a sticky lemon glaze. I enjoyed this but he wasn't so keen as the veg to chicken ratio wasn't quite right and he isn't an onion fan.

We both love chorizo so decided on the Chorizo and Morcilla, Spanish black pudding and chorizo cooked with fire roasted peppers, basil and onion. The chorizo was amazing, I can't stand black pudding though but the Mr assures me it was delicious.

For our final main dish we chose the home made beef burgers. We both thought these were the best dish, even though I'm not a huge burger fan. They were cooked perfectly and the Spanish toppings and spices made these some of the tastiest burgers I've ever eaten, I'd definitely order them again, these are not to be missed.

I don't normally have desert with a meal, however I couldn't resist trying the Lemon Tart, I was pleased I did though as it was light and zesty and perfect to finish off the meal, Mr had the lemon sorbet, I ate some when he wasn't looking and it was lovely too.

If you haven't visited La Tasca before or haven't been in a while I'd highly recommend you visit.
Glasgow has two La Tasca Restaurants, one on Renfield Street and the other in Silverburn.
La Tasca Glasgow are also hosting a charity event this Friday 23rd August in the city centre restaurant. It will be a "Man vs Tapas" style event will challenge guests to eat every single tapa on the Tapas Unlimited menu (12 dishes). If you don't manage to eat it all you will have to pay £14.95 but if you do its free (either way La Tasa will donate £5 to Cash for Kids)

To make a reservation or to find out more about La Tasca visit the La Tasca website or call the Glasgow Renfield St Restaurant on 0141 204 5188.
